Clay County Medical Center (CCMC), a 25 bed CAH is located in Clay Center, Kansas. The hospital has served the health care needs of Clay Center and the surrounding communities since 1962.

A cutting-edge facility, CCMC has a comprehensive and community-based outlook on health care. State-of-the-art diagnostic services include an in-house MRI, Nuclear Med, CT and digital mammography. Community support through Clay County Hospital Foundation has made expansion possible.

    Meadowlark Hospice is a department of the hospital and serves Clay, Cloud, Marshall, Republic, Washington, and Western Riley counties. Their mission is to provide loving, compassionate care for those living with a life-limiting illness. Meadowlark Hospice offers patients and families physical, emotional, and spiritual care as sensitively, humanely, and honestly as possible.

    Incorporated in 1987 as a separate organization, the Clay County Hospital Foundation is committed in its mission to support the Medical Center in meeting the health care needs of the community. The Foundation Board of Trustees works to preserve and strengthen our community health care system by encouraging support through a variety of charitable giving programs. Since the Foundation's beginning, members have invested over two million dollars in the community health care system. Because of committed Foundation members, quality and convenient health care for the community continues to be an option.

    The Mark A. Chapman Wellness Center is part of Clay County Medical Center and offers a variety of exercise options, including an indoor walking track, aerobics room, cardiovascular machines, weight training and a heated pool. Patrons have many program opportunities and personal training is available with certified staff.


    Loan Repayment and Tax Incentives:

    Clay County is authorized to participate in the Rural Opportunity Zones student loan repayment and tax waivers program. Click HERE to view our Rural Opportunity Zones program offered through the Kansas Department of Commerce.

    All primary care physician opportunities in Clay Center qualify for the Kansas Medical Student Loan (KMSL), the Osteopathic Medical Service Scholarship (OMS) and the Kansas Bridging Plan.

    Clay Center is located on the western edge of the scenic Flint Hills. The area is a prime location for hunting, fishing, and boating. The state's two largest lakes, Tuttle Creek and Milford are both within 30 miles of Clay Center. Abilene, home of President Dwight Eisenhower is 30 miles to the south and Manhattan, home of Kansas State University, is 40 miles to the southeast.

    Clay Center is home to a Public Library, City Zoo, Parks, municipal airport, a beautiful golf course, 2 grocery stores and several specialty shops. Some of the other amenities Clay Center offers its citizens are; good schools, community orchestra & band, quality retirement facilities, civic organizations, and a historical society and museum. Annually, during the spring through fall months, there is a Saturday farmer's market to purchase locally grown produce. On Labor Day weekend, since 1955, the neighboring community of Longford, Kansas hosts a PRCA rodeo, which draws a large crowd from all over the region!

    USD 379 is an excellent school district, where grades 9-12 students are even provided with an iPad. Aside from academics, the youth of Clay Center enjoy various types of sports and activities including; baseball, softball, 4-H clubs, scouting, soccer, dance, swimming, football, wrestling, and basketball.

    All primary care opportunities the Sunflower Health Network communities qualify for the Kansas Medical Student Loan (KMSL) and the Osteopathic Medical Service.
